Lithology and Thickness

Claystone. Shales are greenish-grey to dark grey, moderately hard, laminated to nodular and carbonaceous. Fossiliferous marl beds and fine-grained thinly bedded sandstone beds are recorded in the middle part of this Fm. A thickness of c. 1246 m (4000 ft) was recorded in the Padaung Chaung area, with sand 20% and shale 80%.

Regional extent

This Fm is developed in Minbu-Salin basin, Pyay embayment.

Contains the fossils Globorotaliaopima, Globorotalia ciperoensis, Operculina complanata, Nummulites fichteli, N. intermedius and Lepidocyclina (Eulepidina) elephantina.
